Hoping someone can help me ?....
I am looking to turn my dialup Internet Service (Juno Platinum), at home, into a wireless system, for my Desktop computer, and my Laptop. I am looking for the cheapest product that I can do that with, and how to go about doing it. Is there a Router, or Access Point by someone, that has phone ports on it, and costs under $100 ? My home is not very large. I just want something that will work for me, where I am not tied to one room.
My home computer is an AMD Duron Processor, 256MB Ram, Windows 98SE, IE5, 56K Modem. My laptop is a Dell Latitude CS with External DVD/CD-ROM Drive, Intel Anypoint Wireless II Network PCMCIA Card or 56K Modem.
Any ideas that will help ?
Thanks to everyone, in advance......Snake.

There seem to be quite a bit of USB Wireless Adapters out there, in my dollar range. Would that work for what I am looking for, or would I have to go another route ? Someone please help me ? ...Snake.

A USB adaptor on the desktop and configuring the desktop for internet connection sharing would be the cheapest. The drawbacks are that the PC needs to be on and USB adaptors are not the best (IMHO). If your comfortable with adding hardware to your PC, I'd go with a PCI wireless adaptor, their not difficult to install.
With either wireless adaptor you could set up an ADHOC wireless network between the desktop and laptop and then use ICS to share the desktops dialup connection with the laptopn over the wireless connection...

I'll look into that, and post back here as soon as I do. Thanks.

I have a question.....
I've posted this question with six forums total, and in many cases I was told basically what z1p is telling me here. One forum replied though with :

"Juno uses a proprietary dialer. There is no easy way to do what you want."

Is this true ? I know when I bought into Juno Platinum as my ISP, I had to download software to dial online. Is there a way around this, or do I have to get another ISP to not have this situation ? If so, is there another ISP that is of low cost like Juno Platinum ($9.95 a month) ? I know ultimately it would be better for me to go DSL, or another more efficient alternative, but right now I'm just needing something more cost efficient for me. Bought a new house and trying to keep down the bills for now. :)
Just for reference.......My laptop and my desktop are both Win98SE, and Juno Platinum, pretty much identical in most aspects.
Please someone let me know as soon as possible ? Thank you....Snake.

If you can enable ICS on the Juno connection you should be all set. I can't swear that you can as I've never played with Juno myself. Sorry :(

I'm going to give this product a try : http://www.nebowireless.com/index2.html
A Wiflyer will probably also work I'm sure, but the cost is four times that of the Nebo Wireless, $50 compared to $200. I won't be able to network another computer, but it'll work for what I need it for, to make my laptop wireless through dialup. It also has a built-in splitter, so I can continue using my desktop uneffected. Maybe once I get on Broadband, down the road, I'll go another route, and run a network. My options will be far greater at that point.
Thanks for the help everyone, and happy holidays. ...Snake.
