DVD burning problem

im trying to burn a movie i have on my computer onto a dvd.
im using NeroVision Express SE to burn it onto a dvd and my dvd cd has 4.7gb on it. but when i try to burn my movie it says that the file exceeds the space on my cd, although it only uses about 900mb's...

When you launched the burning tool, did you select Burn To DVD instead of Burn To CD?

i selected the VCD mode

VCD uses CDs, not DVDs. I don't think you can burn VCD format on to DVD (which is why it's called Video CD).
