Hello. I just purchased Qwest DSL Service. As many of you know the DSL service comes with an Actiontec Modem that is capable of wireless networking. I configured the modem and I am able to use the modem for wifi with my laptop. I am however not able to figure out how I can send files wirelessly from my laptop to my desktop (which is hooked up to the DSL Wireless Modem) Is it possible to do this with a Wireless Modem?
I would appreciate your help.
Thanks,

It sounds like you have both the desktop connected to the modem/router and that both have internet access, correct? Now you want to share files between them, yes? The good news is that shring files between machines is no different with a wireless network.

HERE (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=87C0A6DB-AEF8-4BEF-925E-7AC9BE791028&displaylang=en) is a document from M$ on setting up file sharing between various versions of windows. Give it a once over and definitely feel free to hit us with any questions or problems you have. (BTW - its an M$ Word doc, let me know if you have issues reading it and I'll see about getting you another resource)

Yes you are correct. However I ran the windows xp wireless networking wizard and plug the flash into my laptop and it says the laptop is now connected to the wireless network. Then I go to my network places and it doesn't show that I am connected to the desktop computer but the desktop computer shows that the laptop is connected. And another thing is that in my network places on the laptop it says there is an actiontec modem but I still cannot share files or printers. If this makes any sense please help.
Thanks a lot

Did you share a folder or printer on the desktop? Do you have a firewall installed on the desktop? If so, make sure you have it configured to allow file sharing.

I allowed file and printer sharing. I have a firewall and anti virus program however I've tried turning them off and I still cannot share files or a printer.

What version of windows are you running on each machine? from the desktop can you open a file on the lap top?

On the desktop and laptop open a dos command window and run 'net view' and post the output back here.
