Hi,

I've got a Linksys WRT54G connected by wireless to my comuter. I am trying to connect my friends computer through my pc. I've done it before but can't remember how I eventualy got it sorted. Has anyone got a quick guide in doing this sort of set up. Both computers are on XP proffesional.

I got it working for a few minutes but his computer couldnt see the internet connection. I tried sharing the internet on the wireless card but this completely disabled the internet gateway for some reason. When I reverted back I lost the network and couldn't ping either computer.

I hope this wasn't too confusing and any help or tips would be appreciated. Cheers.

The short answer is enable ICS on your PCs internet connection then connect your friend's PC to your PC (I assume you're using a CAT5 CROSSOVER CABLE).

On the network connection from your PC to your friend's PC make sure the firewalls are down, at least to start with. Your friends machine should be configured to get its IP address automatically.

Cheers mate. It was my firewall i think. I did switch it off yesterday but only after I attached the cross over cable, maybe that stopped my friends pc getting an IP address from my pc.Thanks again
