Volume Control Problem

I am not getting any volume control from the volume icon. I get the volume control open, but moving the lever up and down does not effect the volume. Nothing has sound played through Windows Media player. I can play a cd with volume with the player that came with the sound card or windows, but the volume stays at one level. The volume control will not turn the sound up and down. I just recently unitstalled the cd drive and reinstalled. I was having problems reading CDs. I do not know if this caused the volume control to lose function. Any ideas?

Hi Rhino. If you are using the latest version of WMP, check to make sure that the "Mute" button is not enabled. See here (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88367&highlight=mute). If that doesnt help, try installing the codecs as suggested by uripyores.

If you still have a problem, try updating your Sound Card driver.
