Unhappy Network Connections disappeared

I was going to change my firewall settings earlier and noticed that two of my network connections had disappeared. Now this is strange to me, I know that they were there last week, and I havent done anything out of the ordinary. I still have access to the internet, but the connection is not showing up. I can however see it in the task manager. I should be seeing three icons in Network Connections, but im only getting one, my xbox, it is connected threw an NIC. Any help would be appreciated.

Windows XP Professional SP 2
AMD Athlon 64 4000+
MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum
200GB WD HD
2GB Corsair XMS
256MB 7800 GTX EVGA

If you need any more info please feel free to ask.

Hi,
Did you have a firewire connection? This shows up as a network connection, if you have removed the cable or turned the device off the icon will disappear.

I did have a firewire connection showing in there as well, but it dissapeared along with my onboard LAN connection. I never used the firewire, but the ethernet connection I used for the Internet and it still works but no icons in the Network Connections window. When I try to create a new connection nothing happens, and it shows as 1 object being in there (my NIC). Also they are all enabled in the device manager.

Any way you might be able to give us a screen shot of what you have going on?

So what happens when you try to plug the firewire connection back in? Does the icon re-appear?

I don't use the firewire port for anything. I just need to get the icons for them to come back so I can change my Internet settings.

You can give it a try and see if it works for you. Go into device manager and uninstall the onboard network adapter and the 1394 adapter. Upon reboot Windows should find new hardware and if you need to install drivers for them make sure to have them on hand. If that doesn't work we can take a look at other options. The only other question I have for you is, has your setup always been this way with the xbox connected to a nic card on your computer or is this something new? Do you use ICS to share the connection with the xbox?
