online gaming connection problems

I have a hp laptop and connect through a linksys router. I play poker online and some sites I just can't stay connected for more than a minute or so before getting disconnected then re-connected about 15-30 secons later. Anyone know a way to boost my connection so I don't get disconnected in the middle of playing a poker hand that could cost me money?

Are you connected wirelessly? If you are can you do something first. Go to Start/Run. Type cmd, then type:

ping 192.168.1.1 -t

and press enter.

Keep this running while you play poker. When it disconnects check what it is saying. If it says something like request timed out and not the usual 1 or 2 milliseconds then let me know. There is a prob with your wireless connection if it does this.
