Hello, I am having a problem on my presario lap top. I can get on line but can't go anywhere but my home page. Every other page I attempt to go to brings me an HTTP CODE 404! Every page! Any suggestions would be much appreciated, I've tried everything I can think of......
Thank you.

How are you getting online?
Try this,
go to start > run > type winipcfg and then press enter. A window will popup. Click on the Release All button. Then click on the Renew All button. Once that is done, reboot your computer and then give it a shot.

Theoran,
Thanks for your reply! I will try it as soon as I can and let you know if it worked. I get on line with a modem connection.

Theoran,
I am sorry (believe me) but I tried what you suggested with no luck. I can move around in my home page but that's it. I still am unable to move to another site...... same old thing.... http 404, http 404, http 404!!!!!! I'm willing to try something else if you have any ideas. We are stumped.
Thank you.

Hi lorrie - Is the homepage that of your ISP? If so, have you spoken to them about the problem. It sounds a bit like a DNS issue and if so, its very likely that the problem is at their end. BTW, are you running a firewall?

Now did you try the IE Repare
or have you removed any spyware
like Web3000, Gator, Netsonic if so
download this zipfile & run it

Eureka!!! Tried all the suggestions given with no success. Eventually I discovered that it was in my "Internet Connections" setup. I had to check the box "never dial a connection" and then in the same section under "settings" I unchecked all options. This worked!
Thanks for all your help.

The home page was probably showing up because it was in your temporary internet files.
