PS on the cheap

Every once in awhile, the rig I built a few years ago sounds like a puking Howler Monkey for a minute, then the sound goes away. Narrowed it down to the power supply.
The other day, I stopped at my local used-PC-parts store, found a dual-fan Enermax (rated 100W higher than my puking monkey) for 5 bucks. Bought it, took it home, installed it, and all works beautifully.
Just thought you should know.

I've also had a run of good luck while buying used PC parts. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing.
I tend to get "carried away" and wind up with a new supply of old used items.Posted January 10th, 2008 at 03:36 PM by duggy

Hey Everyone,
I'm new to this site and just now checking out the blog. My name is Billy N. and I'm really hung up on my computer, not that's it new or anything, but I've been growing with its use. I've had it for about 5yrs. now and its really time to get another one, new of course. It runs so slowly now, I get angrier at it more than I do my dog.
I'm into graphics and all things visual and I'm trying to break into the business. I guess I'm a little older than the average person entering a new career area. The thing is though, I've been in commercial printing for more than 30yrs. and I see that a graphics career as just another avenue of the printing industry. Any comments, or suggestions. I'd like to hear about it.Posted January 16th, 2008 at 06:09 PM by Billy N.
