My router allows me to redirect to any page I want, and I was wondering if there were pages that displayed that message so I could redirect them there and they wouldnt be any wiser to my actions.

Hello, I'm new here and sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place.

All day yesterday and up until about 2 hours ago I kept getting the message from Norton 360 that it had blocked https tidserv request 2 and I was trying everything I could to get rid of it but nothing was. I downloaded the TDSS killer, that was recommended on a number of different sites, and that told me where the problem was but wouldn't "cure" it, it continued to stay infected. Later Norton blocked the backdoor.tidserv.linf!. Anyway I was reading somewhere on the Norton website about windows recovery and doing some stuff through that. So I tried that but I couldn't get it to work so I didn't change/edit do anything to any files through that. After I'd done that my computer restarted and came up with a screen to say it hadn't restarted properly so it would fix the errors so about 15 minutes later my computer restarted and was back to normal.

I checked TDSS killer and that came up negative saying there was no longer any infected files. However, when I first got my computer back on I had keep putting Norton back on auto protect and anti spyware - they wouldn't stay on for some reason, it kept notifying me to say they weren't on and no matter what I did they wouldn't stay on. Eventually they stayed and since then I haven't had any notifications about Tidserv or anything. When I was looking back through the recent history log all the times that I know where from when Tidserv have now been replaced with the IPS Detection Statistical Submission. Also now there's lots of the Default Block Upon discovery stealthed and Default Block LINER stealthed.

So anyway I was just wondering if my computer was somehow miraculously fixed or if tidserv is still running wild on it? Sorry that it is probably something obvious and answered somewhere else, I did look and I really want to be 100% that everything is ok before I do online banking etc

This morning I ran TDSS killer again and it came up negative, I always did a scan with Malwarebytes' Anti Malware - and that came up with 2 infections which were for adware that I have now removed.

Sorry that this is so long and probably makes no sense at all and is probably wasting your time but I just want to know if it's safe to use the internet properly again. Sorry.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks :)

Okay, this old Gateway pc MFATXNIN NMZ RW-1800C is saying that there is no ethernet card even though it lights up when plugged up for the internet, the multimedia and video controllers don't work and the display settings are saying 4-bit. (I never heard of 4-bit), the pc display won't come out of what looks like the safe mode, even though the OS has been reinstalled. Can't get on the internet to update. It's my nieces's only pc someone gave it to her used. I reinstalled the OS thinking this would solve the problem, and reinstalling from the device manager isn't helping at all.

Hi,

I need a bit of advice please. I'm handing a work laptop back in as I don't need it any more. I use Crap Cleaner which runs at start up - I use Firefox and have CC set to clear it in Applications.

My question is, will my internet use - banking/facebook/ebay etc be traceable if somebody wants to look for it, or will Crap Cleaner have wiped it completely. Don;t want my bank details etc compromised as I don't know where the laptop will go after I've handed it back.

I'm using an file shredder to delete personal letters and documents and a 'wipe free space' utility.

Any other tips regarding privacy before I give it back

Thanks in anticipation

I am moving into a new house in a few days and we have a wireless g router in the living room. I just have a few questions about how i would connect both my PC and my xbox, in my room one floor above, to the internet. The first question is, well I was looking at power to ethernet devices and i was wondering do they work if the internet connection is coming from a router? and also how far apart can they be used? My next question is if wireless g transfers at 54mb/s is there any benefit to getting a power to ethernet device that can transfer at a high rate of speed, or will it be limited by the routers speed? Also, if anyone has any other suggestions as to something that would work I would much appreciate, keep in mind though network adapters for the xbox are too expensive and i don't want to have cables all around the house, although that would be the most convenient option :upset: Thanks in advance.

Our tattoo shop just purchased an Acer Aspire Z5610 Desktop. It's lovely and the touchscreen is very fun to play with, but the sd card hub is ridiculous. On a normal computer, I press it in, it clicks, I let go, and it works. This computer does the normal gently click in and out, but for it to read, one must press the card in very hard and hold it there. As I'm right handed and the hub is on the right side, I have to work with my left hand. I can't use a mouse with my left hand and even with the touchscreen it's very hard to keep even pressure on SD with one hand while sorting files. As soon as the pressure shifts or releases a little, the computer stops reading it and it closes the window.

What can We do? We absolutely have to be able to upload our photographs onto the computer. That's the whole point of getting the damn thing in the first place.

So far I've tried yelling at it. That endeavor has yielded no fruit thus far.

So I just fired up a little web server to host my mini-site and decided to throw WordPress on it for kicks.

After toying around with the software a bit, I decided I think it's great! Problem is, I'm not yet motivated enough to become a blogger, though I will be posting about things that come to mind, or maybe about things that I'm doing, projects I'm working on, etc.

So the point of this post? I wonder if there are people out there that would like to casually blog about anything at all, and are willing to do it on my blog instead of hosting their own or making a generic one at blogspot or something?

I'm not looking to make any money (or spend any for that matter!), I just think it would be fun and interesting to manage a small site where others can blog, link their friends too, etc.

What do you think? Is this unreasonable? Would anyone be interested? There are absolutely no requirements other than a willingness to post at least occasionally. :)

My email outbox is full of "undeliverable" notices. On closer inspection, I saw that these were emails that I had NOT sent, and that someone had inserted a fake name in the "from" line!

So, my computer got hijacked and zombied. No clue how, but for months I've been getting extremely-persistent spam, always each indidvidual one from a different email address, and no matter how many I dump into the Spam filter on Yahoo, it keeps on coming.

I am running Windows XP Home Edition, with AVG Free, and keep getting this error message:

avgnsx.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I use Firefox browser 3.6.8.

Resident Shield popped up and said it had found a Trojan, but the message box disappeared too quickly to be useful. (I later learned how to open and save this list, and have placed it below)

Every time I turn on AVG, for two seconds it says in red letters that there are no active components, then suddenly changes to green letters and says that all components are active and up to date.

Updated and ran Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes found three Trojans and eliminated them, but the system was still slow.

Next, I updated and ran AVG Free again:

AVG says that several MS Word documents contain macros.
Since these are just plain-text stories, nothing fancy, that
seems suspicious.

The AVG Free Edition Resident Shield is listing several problems.
