digital camera

Ok I have a Vivitar Vivicam 1020 Digital Camera. It was working fine, until something happened to the computer, my mother deleted something, but then she fixed it by restoring the computer. Now everytime I open any application that has to do with my digital camera it produces the message "Cannot detect Vivicam10&20. Please ensure that the USB cable is properly connected"

I have uninstalled the camera drivers and re-installed them, and still they don't work. Can anyone help me? I'm using Windows XP btw.

Did your mother do this by using the Systems Restore?

If this is the case, then I'm certain there's a way of "undoing" a Systems Restore, I'm just not sure how, but hopefully someone else will come along to help! :)

That's the thing, I did undo the restoration and it still doesn't work.

I think the problem isn't with the software...my friend said it could be the hardware. It doesn't detect the camera when I plug it into the USB port.

Have you tried reinstalling your digital camera software canadian_cutie8?

canadian_cutie8 February 7th, 2004 11:00 AM

Yes countless times. Uninstalling and re-installing. When it says it's "installed".. and for me to reboot in order for the camera to work, I plug it in and it never detects it.

Ok, go to Start > Control Panel and doubleclick on System. Click on the Hardware Tab and click on Device Manager. In the list of devices shown, there should be a line that reads "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". Click on the +. At least two devices should be listed. One line should end with "USB Universal Host Controller" and the other line should read "USB Root Hub" If either or both of these two lines have a yellow exclamation mark or a red cross next to them, this indicates your USB controller has a problem.

There is no line that reads USB Root Hub. It's not there. Only "USB Universal Host Controller"

Try plugging camera in switching it on and then go to device manager and check USB settings, camera should be labelled as USB mass storage or something along those lines

I did that but there is no line like that either.
