Attachment won't open in Windows Mail

I have a message with an attachment for a word document In Windows Mail. When I try to open I get an error message that says "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations Control Panel" How do I fix this?

Do you have MS Word installed on your computer janlafata?

I ended up using a program called "Docfix" and it solved the problem.
