c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spuni nst.exe

My bad if you put a space between spuni nst

No spaces should be:
c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spuni nst.exe

If you didn't then try a search for spuninst.exe, it should be there, if found double click on it. I'm not sure if SP3 is the problem but sure sounds like it. You could also try reinstalling SP3 over the top of itself.

Or you can do a repair/install of XP:

Sorry about that.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

This is an ISO image you will have to burn it to a CD, if you know how.

This is a network download but will work, its a big file.

I found a way to uninstall SP-3 ( Through Ccleaner ) but there is a warning that a lot of programs listed that will not work properly after SP-3 is deleted .

My question is how safe is it to delete SP-3.?

At this point I really think SP3 messed with the floppy. CCleaner supposedly works like Add/Remove Programs, although I have never used it that way. I have had problems with CCleaner before.

You may want to try this free program, has great reviews. And says it also cleans out the registry of the program your removing.

Once you get SP3 uninstalled and the floppy still does not work then we know SP3 was not the problem.

You need to clean out the registry. Use regscrubxp to do it, let it fix what it finds, then reboot, then try installation again.
