I have Windows 7 Ultimate v6.1.7600 x64
Windows Update gave me the error code 80246008 We followed instructions in help & support as follows>> Windows Update error 80246008 You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps. If you receive Windows Update error 80246008 while downloading updates, you might need to change the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) or Windows Event Log service settings, and then restart each service. To change or restart the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) Click to open Administrative Tools. Double-click Services. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Right-click the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) service, and then click Properties. On the General tab, next to Startup type, make sure that Automatic (Delayed Start) is selected. Next to Service status, check to see if the service is started. If it's not, click Start. To change or restart the Windows Event Log service Click to open Administrative Tools. Double-click Services. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Right-click the Windows Event Log service, and then click Properties. On the General tab, next to Startup type, make sure that Automatic is selected. Next to Service status, check to see if the service is started. If it's not, click Start. If the problem persists after you have followed the steps above, go to this Knowledge Base article on the Microsoft Help and Support website or go to the Microsoft Update Solution Center website to request support by e‑mail. Error codes this applies to: WindowsUpdate_80246008 0x80246008 -------------------------------------------------------- The BITS service says that it cannot start on the local machine error: 126 The module could not be found I found the Vista Version of the BITS repair toolkit at the following link>> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940520 but it says Vista Only..
