Video and audio problems while playing

I have a problem with playing most games.
after a while I lose the video and a short time after that I lose the audio
I am running Vista home premium 64 bit.
NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT video card.
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz, 2333 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
Realtek High Definition Audio sound card.

I would greatly appreciate any help.
