How to Ensure Links in PDF open in new window

Problem: Every time I create an Open Office document and export as PDF and upload to my server, the links inside open ON TOP (in same window/tab) of my browser.

I use FF.

I have correctly set up my hyperlinks to start with, I know that.

Using target="_blank" for each and every link...

Question: Should I search for a fix in Open Office settings, my computer settings, my Internet settings, my PDF reader settings or what?

I've spent WAY TOO MUCH time on this....

Any help appreciated.
