windows aero issues
Hi
I seem to be having soem problems runnig indows aero. Everytime i fire up a game, whether its bf3 or diablo3 /wow, i get a message saying that windows aero dosnt have enough memory to run and has either been changed to basic or needs to be changed. Im assuming my pc has more than enough specs to run aero, however a google search tends to bring back things like, disable indexing or other 'tuning' ideas. Im in that frame of mind where i think i have spent enough money recently to not need to turn things off .Could you advise me why its happening or whether i can increase the memory available etc? |

Start menu search type Troubleshooting
Select option " Display aero desktop effects" Hit next. You will get a report if there is a problem. If it doesn't find one then: Aero requires at least DirectX9 or later, which I'm sure you have. Start | type dxdiag Click the system tab then under system info you will see the DirectX version. Obviously your graphics cards support it BTW: Nice system. |

Hi Murf
Thanks very much ( i recently moved near a really top notch pc store, and driving past it every day is too much temptation )As far as "Start menu search type Troubleshooting Select option " Display aero desktop effects" Hit next. You will get a report if there is a problem. If it doesn't find one then: Aero requires at least DirectX9 or later, which I'm sure you have. Start | type dxdiag Click the system tab then under system info you will see the DirectX version." There was no error report and my dx version is 11. You think maybe this is an anomally or something as i dont actually notice as appreciable difference in quality or performance, its mpre of a 'come on windows what are you playing at' kind of thing thanks Murf |

Check your page file. In Windows 7 generally the default size is equal to the amount of memory installed.
Windows key + Pause Advance System settings Advance TAB Performance > Settings Advanced TAB Probably set to about, under Virtual memory, 8MB, click on change and set to 12MB. Hit OK See if that makes a difference. |
