win xp show in groups arrange order

win xp, sp3

i set some files in explorer in this view: 'show in groups' and the files are grouped by album. i only want to group the files by album.but i noticed that you cant manually move files around anymore. so for example:

group 1
-------
group 2

some of the files from group 2 have to be moved to group 1, but xp doesnt allow it (drag and drop). so i want to force it somehow. i also want to arrange the order of the groups :

group 2
-------
group 1

Can't help with the moving of files but to reverse the order of the list, in Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer), with the albums showing in the right-hand pane, click on the column heading once to reverse the order.

On second thought, do the files stay where you put them if you disable "show in groups" temporarily, move the files, then re-enable "show in groups"?

no, if i set it to 'show in groups', it is rearranged again, and none of the files is allowed to move anymore.
