Changing Boot Order on Gateway

I have a Gateway 7200X running XP Pro. (Purchased used ... No manual or system disk.) Windows is installed on a SATA hard drive. I added an additional hard drive on the ATA cable and now the computer attempts to start using this new drive. I have to change the boot order (manually) every time the computer starts (by pressing "F2"). Runs fine after I do this.

How can I change the boot order so that the computer looks for Windows and starts on the SATA drive instead of the ATA drive?

You need to go into the BIOS and change the boot order.

It should say onscreen at start the key to press to enter Setup/BIOS/CMOS.
Usally DEL, F1, F10 etc.

When in the setup look for the boot order and set it appropriately.
