We have recently purchased a Highlander laptop computer (HL226) and are running Windows 98 on it.
I am trying to get an older DOS game to run on it that requires Expanded memory. After right-clicking on the programme file and going to the memory tab I get a message saying “The computer is not configured for expanded memory in MS DOS sessions”. When the Details button is clicked I get a message saying “Third-party memory management software has not been configured for expanded memory. Consult the project documentation.” The manual that came with the computer does not mention expanded memory. I have had a look using ctrl+alt+s on startup. (This is how the manual said to get into the memory setup). This does not show up expanded memory and I can see no option to enable it. I have also tried going through to the Windows help site. They suggested removing one line from the system.ini file (EmmExclude). This has not corrected the problem. How can I configure the computer for expanded memory? Thanks |

Hi Belinda
Go to File Library and download emmx.zip. Run it, and you should be OK (it's a LIM emulator). Let us know how you made out.

I tried the file. It downloaded OK. I modified the config.sys OK (I only put it into the advanced startup properties for the particular programme).
However, when I tried to run the programme, the computer restarted - as it was supposed to - and then it said that it couldn't find any extended memory to convert to expanded memory. The computer definitely does have extended memory though. Any other ideas? Thanks |
