Exclamation USB device won't load!!!

Just added an extra 2 gig of ram to my computer and that worked fine so it might not be related but afterwards i went to insert a usb flash drive and i use these all the time and it worked before but this time it said it was installing drivers so that was fine except it didn't work afterward the usb stick will not appear in my computer and in device manager i get this message

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."

and yes i tried that check for solutions button and searching for new drivers but with no success.

And so I thought that a good restart would help the probelm but it seems to have had the opposite affect as when i restarted it wouldn't boot up again it got to the loading screen of vista when the little bricks go across but then blackness. I got it going in safe mode ( although it freezes up gettting into it sometimes) and the last known good configuration option works too just a bit slower then usual.

heres what i am running

Well actually I have a Transcend, Kingston, Cruzer Mini plus some generic brand. And they all don't work and they all can't find new drivers.

sounds as though you may have a conflict with another usb device that is already plugged in and working, have you tried unplugging all usb devices then trying the sticks?

try the fix that works for XP:: remove & reinstall all USB controllers:
Start/ Right Click 'My Computer'/ select Properties/ & the Hardware tab/ then
Device Manager/ click on the "+" on Universal Serial Bus controllers
R-click every ctrl/device & uninstall/ remove then Reboot
PnP will reinstall the USB controllers
