? battery

I have a toshiba satellite L505 laptop that has a flashing "X" next to the battery life symbol. When plugged in, it shows that it is plugged in, but has a red "X" over the battery life indicator. Is this a sign that the battery needs to be replaced??? Thanks in advance.

Generally a Red X means the battery has no charge and cannot be charged but it is being recognized. So it does not charge at all? If so then yes. need to replace it.

Find the right battery HERE once you get the Part number, or use the part number from the existing battery, do a search for the cheapest place.

You can find them for $28.00 + make sure the model is right.
