wifi help

Well I did it after many years I finally broke down and bought something that was wireless. My old modem died so I got a new one I need some networking help.

I bought a surfboard extreme sbg6580 Modem

Running windows 7

First and foremost let me say I liked wired over wireless. If I could shut off the wireless I would but its built in.

Ok so the meat of the matter. I have my pc and xbox hooked up to the modem (has router built in too) But its also sending out a wireless signal as I can connect to it with my ipod. What concerns me is I have this wireless signal shooting out and I have no idea how to access it let alone even change the password on it and I have no clue what information is going out as well.

I tried looking for the device under my network but I cant find it. I need help.

Have a look at the manual here

Look at page 9 how to change passwords
It may be a good idea to read it all

Best to change the password and make a wireless network with a Security Configuration of WPA-PSK with your own passwords and disable guest network.
You will find all this on page 15 thats about all you need . And then check that you can see it with a wireless device and log in with the passwords only .
