Blue screen of death on boot up

Getting the blue screen of death after seeing the xp splash on a dell inspirion laptop. It says stop code 7B. Any ideas what I should try?

Stop code 7B can be many things, does it give more info i.e.,

STOP: 0X0000007B (0XF78DA524, 0XC000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000 bla bla bla???

Get into your BIOS SETUP, 1st screen will tell you how. In there check, generally under Integrated Periferals, and see if the mode of SATA is set to AHCI, if it is set it to ATA or IDE, then save and exit.
