Linkstation NAS no longer visible on Network
Hi
Wonder if someone might be able to advise? I'm a Virgin media customer and had my Buffalo Linkstation NAS connected to the Virgin Media superhub to enable me to stream content to my PS3. This was easy to set up and worked just fine. The Superhub was flaky as a router though, so I bought an ASUS RT-N66( (aka Drak Knight). The router is brilliant, but I have encountered a problem. I can no longer see my NAS on the network. When I installed the new router I simply set my Superhub to modem mode, connected the new router as per supplied instructions and everything seemed fine. I didn't test the NAS until today though. I've tried to use the supplied software "LS Navi" to 'reinstall' the NAS but this fails as it cannot find the NAS on the network. I'm using a Windows 7 Machine. Wonder if anyone might be able to advise or assist. Sadly, I know little or nothing about Networking, so please, be gentle with me! Thanks all VMAK |

Well, at least I know what the problem is now. Connected up all my old kit and I could see the NAS straight away (ish). It's the IP address, I think it's static so has 192.168.0.X whereas the rest of the network appears to be 192.168.1.x.
I think I need to change something to either dynamically assign the IP, or need to change the IP on the NAS to a 192.168.1.x Maybe? |

So, I've fixed it. Old kit connected, reset NAS to factory, set to dynamically assign IP address, connect everything up. When it doesn't work, reboot everything, ever. Came back up and everything works just fine.
