Dell Dimension XPS opinion

Hi, all

I'm considering buying Dell Dimension XPS machine. Does anyone have an opinion on this computer or Dell machines in general?

Thanks in advance!

Having only seen the specs of the base XPS model, it is hard to say that it will not be an amazing machine. Worth the money? That depends on what money is worth to you. I can't imagine anyone owning one and being dissatisfied with it's performance right out of the box. Keep in mind it is intending for gaming more than anything, though.

As far as Dell in general, my personal experience with them has been very good. I currently own a Dell Dimension 8200 and a Dell Inspiron 8200 and both have been very good to me. Dell's service and support is, IMHO, unmatched in nearly everyway.

I also own a Dell TrueMobile PCMCIA wireless adapter for the laptop which has worked flawlessly right out of the box for over a year now (used everyday) and on the other end is a Dell router (forget the model) which has also had no problems since the day I plugged it in.

The only problem I've had with a Dell product was about 2 months ago when the 30GB laptop hard drive went to hell right before my very eyes. The laptop was unchanged until then, so the hard drive's total lifespan was just over 2 years. I don't really know how laptop hard disks compare to PC disks, but I know I have hard drives in computers running in my basement that are pushing 8 years of everyday use with not so much as a whine.

Overall, I would be willing to bet that you'd be very happy owning a Dell. IMO, it's the best thing you can do short of building your own PC.

agree that out of box you won't be unhappy with it. Dell builds a pretty nice rig for an "off the rack" company. I don't put too much stock into any help desk let alone Dell. You may get lucky and catch a person on the phone right here in the USA but if you are like me and call you are soooooo gonna get India. As stated already this is mostly a rig for games and for the price its not toooo bad. When put side by side with say a FragBook you get more bang for ya buck outta Dell. Both are very fast but talk about high end price point check out the Fragbook here you can check out the desktops while there also. Ouuuch my wallet! Anyhow that is how I see Dell "this is just my opinion" no hate mail plz

I want one! Think they'll trade me for my AMD machine that I built for $600?

What do you mainly use the computer for? Dells not bad. I use them at work and never had a problem. The company I worked for recently purchased about 200 from them.

The only real complaint about dell is you pay around 200-400 dollars for the name.
