avast/google chrome/outlook problem

Hi all,
I downloaded a recent new upgrade of Avast free (used for ages and was happy with it) and it auto installed chrome. In my simple way I uninstalled chrome (I just want the basic google browser), and now on Outlook Express, I can get new/extg e-mails up on the screen, but if i click on any link a message comes up that 'Operation is canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer, contact system administrator' Can anyone advise me how to unpickle this?? (Competence level:Novice!)
Cheers!

Go to Control Panel select Default Programs option and in the browsers customization menu set your browser as the default browser. Are you now using internet explorer?
