i want to buy the very best anti-virus software out there today. one that takes care of all the kinds of computer viruses known to man!

from my experience McAffee is the answer. Norton seems to slow pc/laptop down big time

I will say that McAfee and Norton would not be my 1st choice's.
They can cause problems as they are very intrusive and bloated; although there are folks out there that swear by them.

Bitdefender
Kaspersky
Would be my top 2 choices if someone would want to pay for a anti-virus.

I am a proponent of Microsoft Security Essentials, use it on all my systems...AND ITS FREE

Just out of interest why do you want to pay for one when there are many excellent free alternatives out there like MSE, or AVG and Avast?
