Inverter, Back Light or Screen

I have a Sony VGN NW20EF (model PCG-7185M) and suspect something wrong with the display

Can only see anything if I shine a light on the screen

Is this the inverter or the backlight and would I have to replace the whole screen ?

Thanks

Probably inverter. No you do not have to replace the whole screen. Before trying to find a replacement you will need to get the part number off of the inverter then search for it. Could not find VGN NW20EF mistype maybe?

Found a VGN-NW240F

Thanks for suggestions - useful to keep for the future

I took the lid apart and found it was a loose connection to the inverter !!
