Non Boot

I have a Gateway laptop (model NEW95) that won't boot. It's Win 7. Upon start up nothing happens. The screen stays blank but I can hear the fan running. I inserted a Win 7 disc from another computer in an attempt to start it from the CD ROM but nothing (CD ROM light did come on but the screen remained blank). Can not get it into Safe mode. Looking for suggestions.

Have you tried plugging in an external monitor?

Yes. Plugged in a desk top monitor. It booted up (appeared on the desk top monitor). In the device manager everything is working fine. installed Win 7 SP1. Still the laptop had nothing on the screen.

In that case it looks like your laptop screen is faulty. If your laptop is still under warranty, contact the retailer or manufacturer for assistance.

If not, you will have to replace it yourself or continue to use an external monitor.
