Red face asus board not booting up.

I have an asus p8h61-m lx motherboard. It has been running with a single 4gig stick in slot a. I recently installed a second 4 gig stick in slot b, and the system
would not boot up, i am not even getting any post codes.

With either stick in slot a, system would start, with both slots in use or with either stick in slot b, the system wont start.

I tried starting, going into the bios, while there i put in a stick in slot b, reset via bios controls, went back into the bios, in the main tab, only 4gigs is showing, but in the tools tab, both slots are reading the ram... i again reset the system, this time allowed it to start and in properties only the initial 4gig is being seen. If i shut down totally though, the system would once again fail to even give post codes.

I am running windows 7 64bit. Am i missing some bios setting or something??

Thanks for the help...

welcome vi1012, what are the ram specs for the "new" ram, and what are the specs on the ram you currently have installed?.

Have you tried resetting the bios to "factory defaults, then installing the ram?(the procedure for clearing the cmos, and resetting it to factory defaults can be found on page 1-19 of your manual). You might also look at updating the bios, (there are a few updates that address memory compatibility, and stability).
