BSOD when I try to read a DVD
I have just finished building a new computer and everything is working great except I cannot read DVDs. My drive has no issues at all when reading a cd, but when i insert a DVD everything goes to hell. My system specs are as follows:
Asus M2N SLI Deluxe mb AMD Athelon 64x2 5600 2.8 gHz XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 2 GB A DATA DDR2 800 RAM Seagate 160 GB SATA HD LiteOn DVDRW LH-A18AIP Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit If I insert a game such as supreme commander it recognizes the disk and gives me the option to autorun. It then takes me to the initial screen where you have the option to install, view readme, etc. If I select any of these options an error message comes up saying "Windows cannot find 'D:\setup.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." When I try to open the disk and look at the files it shows the disk as being empty. If I put in Ghost Recon it takes me to the same initial screen where I can chose to install. If I try to install it it will start the installation but after a few seconds I get a blue screen that says "A thread tried to release a resource it did not own" I also get error messages such as: 0x000000E3 0x87872008 0x849A77D8 0x84484D78 0x87c46328 I get these same error messages when trying to play a video DVD. I have updated to all the most recent drivers and BIOS. I have also tried two different dvd drives, the other being a Philips, and come up with the exact same issues. I have run a memory diagnostics test and everything came up fine. I don't know what else to try, any help would be really appreciated. Also, when I was first installing Vista I used a DVD and it had no issues. This leads me to believe that I must have screwed something up since then. Perhaps incompatible drivers? |
