Annoying problem..

Everytime I start up Outlook Express to get my email it opens AIM! I hate that! I have disabled the "automatically log on to AOL Instant Messager" and it still opens!

Anyone else have any suggestions?!?!?!

Not familiar with XP. but:

In OE go to TOOLS | OPTIONS | CONNECTION

Is OE shared with AIM??????

Also in AIM itself under "Mail Preferences" check what is entered.

POP3 E-mail Program: Enter the full pathname of your e-mail application. Note that if you leave this field blank, the service uses your system’s default e-mail application. If this mailbox is for a web-based mail program, type the URL of this web site in this area.

Outlook Express dosen't open AIM as I recall, only Microsoft's Messenger proggie. Might be wrong, as I use neither of them myself. Looking through the settings in Outlook Express dosen't show anything about AIM though.

Try this if you are still having problems. Close OE, open Aim and look in Preferences. Uncheck the box where it says "use AIM as your default messenger". Now open OE and let us know what happens.

@postcode: yep.. there's a setting in Outlook Express that comes with XP.. it's under TOOLS and OPTIONS.

@annmarie: I love you! You fixed my problem. Going into AIM and disabling AIM as default message program.
