iTunes takes ages to start
I downloaded the new iTunes yesterday and since then it takes ages to start. It now takes 10-15 minutes to start up, during which time there is a box that says 'checking itunes library' with a load bar (not one that builds but one that scrolls across the screen).
My itunes was never quick to start before taking 3-5 minutes because i have a fairly slow pc but this is ridiculous. Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks, Jack |

Is the library on a local disk or a network?
If local, try this: Close iTunes Move the files to a new folder Reopen iTunes Re-import the folders. |

Its on an external HD. Moving all the files would take ages as i have over 50gb of music. I also don't have all my music on my itunes and wouldn't want it there so to re-add the right things would be very hard.

Not really, I usually avoid updating iTunes as long as possible.
If I had some spare time I'd test this on a spare machine but what happens if you start iTunes with the removable drive disconnected then re-connect while iTunes is open? |
