Malwarebytes equivalent for Mac

Hi all -

Can anyone recommend a free scanning program for Mac - similar to malwarebytes free edition - which I use on my PCs.

Macs have been so stable Ive never owned one - but would like to take some precautionary measures anyway..

Thanks!

You still don't need one.

All the Macintosh "malware/virus/spyware" checkers do is look for Windows junk. There's no such thing as malware or spyware on a Mac. At least not yet. To date, there has been 1, yes ONE, trojan horse for the Mac OS X. If you aren't downloading porn or illegal software, then you won't even come across that.

If you REALLY want to add something just to feel like you did with your PC you can try ClamAV. But really.. it's not needed.

There are no Mac viruses so how could anything protect against them? In addition, OSX has a built in firewall.

How informed are you?

There has been ONE trojan horse for the Mac. In order for it to even install you must give it your administrator password. It's distributed through ILLEGAL file sharing applications and/or porn software. If you aren't STEALING software or downloading porn applications, there's absolutely ZERO chance you'll encounter the trojan horse.

Please, do not spread unnecessary fear and hype. It does not serve to help users.
You joined today.. have 3 posts and no other information. You could be a PC troll for all I know.

Again, there is no need for Macintosh malware or virus software and the Mac OS has a built in firewall. There's no need to purchase additional software. Simply do not steal software and do not download any application from a pornographic site.

So how many virus did it protect you from so far? Is this insurance from the "FUD" fear??

Hmmm, three users (Georgy, Digggy, Mollly) all with IPs from Russia and all plugging the same software. Could this just be spam in disguise?
