FIFA 10 (PC) - Tackling
Hi,
Does anyone have any suggestions about tackling in this game. The settings for the controller has two options. standing tackle and sliding tackle. The standing tackle is often uneffective and the sliding tackle often results in a card. I'm fininshing a majority of the matches with 10 or 9 men. Cheers

Haven't played the PC version and I don't mean to sound patronising but do you know the rules of football well? As in, only slide tackle sideways or facing the player to avoid a card.
Also, try using the jockey press/run control while defending - this will make your player get up close to the attacking player, thus allowing you to tackle with greater ease. |

I've played all of the fifas and you can only tackle as well as you can play the rest of the game.
If you slide tackle you bascially need to be level (whilst running) very much preferably slightly in front of the player you are going to slide tackle - you must win the ball otherwise a card will be given when you trip the other player without winning the ball. If you run at somebody and slide tackle them chances are you won't win the ball. You need to practice and find out how far away/where you player needs to be for the tackle to be sucessful, you are tackling to win the ball not the player. When you do it ask yourself whether your legs will reach the ball not the player Stand tackle is effective you just need to know how to use it, to use it you more or less need to be next to the opposite teams player. Knock the button a few times and your player should shove the other player and win the ball. Again, it depends on the location. If you just barge in you could get done for obstruction. Can't really explain how to use them you just need to know the game (or football) well |
