USB not Recognized - StorProp.Dll error

Error when plugging in USB

Driver request window comes up - use recommended......

c:\windows\system32\StorProp.dll is either not designed to run on windows or contains an error.....

The "Windows could not load the installer for DiskDrive...."

Not listed in Disk management either

Tried sfc /scannow - some files could not be fixed.......

Normal noise occurs when plugging in USB, then driver request window comes up

Vista SP2

Any help appreciated

"Tried sfc /scannow - some files could not be fixed"

Could very well be the problem Try running the Vista Repair: Boot from the VISTA DVD, you system must be configured to boot from DVD/CD as the 1st boot device, which it probably is if you did not change the boot order.

Screen comes up asking "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD"

1st screen self explanatory

2nd screen select "Repair your Computer"

3rd screen Windows Vista should be highlighted (unless you have more than one operating system)

Click "Next"

The automatic repair process can take a while

If the window comes up asking if you want to use "System Restore" hit "Cancel"

See if this helps.
