Being that I commit a lot of typos, this is not a criticism. However, when describing an incident like this one, you need to be careful so we can assess the situation.
You started internet explorer. And sent it to a site. The site has a logmein screen which you use to talk to a "Tech." aka scammer. A supposed tech may take over your computer and you'll beome infected, not fixed. Personal information will be stolen. You may be required to pay for ther "help.." Great! Now you have given out your credit card number. Ouch. That's a recipe for disaster. For anyone reading this. Microsoft doesn't call people unless they have submitted a request to Microsoft. It's easy to mislead you using information on the average computer into believing these claims. They scare you, then send you to a site where you can connect to a so called tech. Then they follow an agenda to rob you and infect your system. How did they get your number? It could be random dialing. They could have either bought or stolen mailing lists.... Just hang up on these people. Don't engage them, don't spend any time. Just hang up and never, ever for one minute trust them. Last edited by Mosaic1; September 13th, 2011 at 02:19 AM. |
