Mshtml.dll yes could be a clue.
This error happens when the mshtml.dll file is missing or deleted. It can also happen when we repair the registry and damage or delete the mshtml.dll file. Or it could of been a part of a cumulative Security update. But I would first try: 1. Click on Start. 2. Click on Run and then type regsvr32 /u mshtml.dll 3. Click on OK. This will unregister it. Now try registering again If not then run at the CMD prompt sfc /scannow May ask for XP cd, this will repair/replace any system files. |

Another valiant effort Murph...but again to no avail. In fact I would've made that suggestion right off just to make sure I had all my files to begin with. It took quite awhile to run that process so I guess I must've had some other issues as well though it didn't show a final report as to what (if any) files were replaced. Currently running som Malware detectors and Rootkit Removers then ComboFix , OTR and finally HijackThis. Are you qualified to analyze the Hijack results? |

No on malware. We have a Malware forum where only qualified members can post. I'm bias, but probably one of the best crews around. Post there and in your post link to this thread so they know the history. I will let them know your coming over.

Not heading to Malware Forum, thanks just the same.
I can't believe we've run into a dead end! I don't know what else is left. Just ran a utility called Tweaking.com. Didn't accomplish what I needed but there were several steps beforehand that were useful. |
