Advice on easiest way to backup gmail

Could anyone please help me backup my gmail emails?
I have searched online, I know there are options… I have looked at programs such as Dropbox and Mozilla Thunderbird, but I’m not too tech savvy, and not sure the best option.

It’s a gmail account I share with a business partner… and I’m not sure she is being totally honest, so I want to make a back up of all emails… or at least the emails from the last 6 months (there are 12,000 emails in total). I would prefer if the email back-up / copying program not be visible to my partner.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Richard

You would have to install a email program then access your email from this program which simply means you have a copy of the emails on your computer. Once such way is through Thunderbird.
