computer jerky
hi ive just re formated my computer but now for some reason im getting stuttering with everything. for example my mouse will jerk at certain intervals and sound, video and everything i can think of is being effected. sound stutters etc..can anyone help stop this.
i dont know if this will have anything to do with it but i have 2 HDD's in my computer and ive just swapped the master to slave and the slave to master. because i wanted the smaller hdd for my windows installation only. maybe i got the jumper settings wrong? the slave has no jumper and the master has 1 on the first 2 pins vertically. Just run a test and remove the slave and see what happens. Also did you install the operating system on both the drives.

no its jsut on the master drive. its almost like my cpu is at 100% usage or near to it at least. so when im listening to music on its own its fine.....but as soon as i move around windows or even type, the sound stutters and s does everythin else infact. my setup is exatly the same as i has it before apart from the fact that ive changed my hdd order around. everthing is clean install and iv never had problems before of this nature.

ok quick update. ive been fideling around and ive figured out it has somethin do do with my partitioned drive for some reason. i partitioned it using partition magic 8. im getting an error 100 when i try to run the program now. and when i try to run pqboot32 it says:
error #5006 building the partiton list on disk #2 then after i click ok a window appreas (simaliar in appearance to cmd) which says: error #8158 error reading sector windows error message: the device is not connected press any key.... the device is connected because i can acess the data on the backup partition i made and ive also installed programs to the other partition. the drive isnt showing up in fdisk either. i need to sort this sector buisness out if i can and i think that will solve matters.

ok ive narrowed the problem down even more. i realised that i have an SCSI drive on my pc but it isnt actually phiscally there. when i uninstall it and restart it is there again. (i cant run partition magic with this SCSI device enabled or installed) so i disabled the SCSI device and merged the partition i created back to the primary partition. then i formatted. the thing is im sitll getting the jerking so im thinking it has something to do withe the SCSI device. any ideas on how to remove it because it wasnt there on my previous installation of windows before i formatted.
edit: i was deleting the device in the wrong manner. i went into device manager and deleted the driver ffrom there and its working cool now. so this thread is useless i guess. Last edited by DagGz; March 5th, 2004 at 03:09 PM. |
