Zip disk

I can not open certain files on my zip disk. I keep getting block error codes 7932 & 36. I can open others on the same disk. The files that I am tring to open have been compressed w/ Diskdoubler. I can open files that are disk doubled on the same disk. The files that I can't open are clarisworks files which are disk doubled.
I can't drag them off the disk either. What can I do to get these files?

Unfortunately you're files are most likely lost due to a bad disk.

You can try duplicating the file while it's on the disk. If that works drag the duplicate off the disk if you can. You can also try deleting a few files on the disk then retry to copy the bad files off of the disk. Both those suggestions may or may not work.

The disk should be reformatted via the Tools application. But reformatting will erase all data on the disk.

Important Note: NEVER run any utility such as Norton Utilities, Tech Tool or Disk Warrior on a Zip or Jaz disk. If you do you run the risk of killing the disk entirely whereas reformatting will make the disk usable again.

Zip and Jaz disks do have a lifespan. You should also check the life of your disks regularly to prevent this sort of thing from happening. Again the Tools application will show the remaining disk life for a disk.
