Mouse works but won't copy and paste

Dear friends:

I have a Logitech Optical Wheel Mouse. According to the Control Panel, Mouse, it is working properly. But when I try to copy and paste (in any application, e.g. Microsoft Word), it won't work. It will highlight the text just as always, but when I try to paste into a new page, nothing seems to happen: that is, all I see is blank space.

At first, I thought it was my mouse (I had a spare, identical mouse) and I foolishly threw it away. Now, the exact same thing happens with my backup mouse.

What could be wrong?

Using Windows XP.

Thank you.

Benjamin

Dear renegade600:

Thanks for writing.

What temp folder, please?

By the way, I tried Cntr C and Cntr V. Same problem. Doesn't work.

Dear renegade600:

You are right. I used the Clean Disk feature in Accessories, System Tools. It gave me the option of deleting my Temp files along with the Internet Temp Files. I did that and, bingo, the mouse copy and paste is working fine. Why is that, may I ask?

Thanks so much.

You only have so much space for temporary files. You were at the limit so there was no place to copy the files to.
