Reinstalling XP

Hi all
Can any one help?
I tried to reinstall Windows XP and have ended up with a white screen which reads:
Press <Tab> to switch to post or <DEL> to run Bios setup

Theres a large V symbol in the centre of the screen and the words:
Quiet - stable - Durable underneath.

This screen appears when i start the computer and nothing happens when i press the Tab or DEL keys.

When i tried to reinstall XP i only got as far as the setup screen. Setup wouldn't let me delete the partition so i intended to exit. I think i went through part of the instalation proccess which restarted the computer and left me with the white screen, this white screen appears every time i restart.

Thanks in advance all the best Jeff

Jeff, I am not really sure what happened. As I understand it, that bios message is displayed by some OEM's. Are you using your original XP CD to reinstall XP?

Hi AnnMarie

Yes thats correct, the computer didnt come with an XP disc so i bought one.
Im able to get into the Bios setup now but the CDrom draw wont open so i cant restart with the XP disc in.

Could i download an Fdisc tool and do it that way?

Thanks for the prompt reply AnnMarie.
All the best Jeff
