Game Problem

Hi there,

I recently purchased a game for my PC. However, when I start the game, after installing, and click play, it fails to load. A blank screen appears shortly after attempting to play the game, followed by an error message which says the following:

dwwin.exe - Application Error
The application failed to
initialize properly
(0xc0000142). Click on OK to
terminate the application.

Anybody know how they could help?

Howdy BigPete,
What game is it? Presumably you've tried in compatible mode.
You could try checking you have the latest version of Direct X

You sometimes get this kind of error when DirectX has got corrupted. You can go here for the latest DirectX update. No guarantees that it will fix it, but it will update DirectX anyway.
