File System

I have a ASUS laptop. It came with XP Professional pre-installed. I note that the file system is Fat 32. I was under the impression that NTFS was the preferred file system for XP Professional. What would be the reason for the use of the Fat 32 file system? The model number of the laptop is A4L with the 2.8 pentium 4 processor. Any help technical or otherwise would be gratefully received.

..........................................Thanks in advance.........................................

What size is the Hard Disk?

I would have thought that they were all NTFS.

40 GB H/D. "Properties of Local Disk (C" show file system is Fat 32. This laptop O/S was Reinstalled using the Asus support CDs. I assume therefore that this is a standard format from the factory. My original query was more of a technical nature, because I understood M/S saying that XP Professional file system is usually NTFS. Why would a manufacturer like Asus use the Fat32 file system if NTFS is more secure etc. Just curious, for an answer.
