AMD AMD , the world's second largest computer processor producer, has introduced Athlon 64 FX-57 processor, a new and faster chip for playing games and intense applications.
AMD's Athlon 64 FX-57 processor, available immediately, runs at a clock speed of 2.8 GHz with 1 MB of level-two cache, faster than its Athlon 64 FX-55 processor running at 2.6 GHz.

A CNET report said that at a recent gathering of PC game enthusiasts, many liquid-cooled systems were able to push a standard Athlon FX-55 2.6 GHz processor to speeds close to 5 GHz.

"The AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 processor is the fastest CPU available for running Half-Life 2, and the AMD Athlon 64 FX-57 processor will be even faster," Gabe Newell, founder and president of Valve, claimed.
