Blizzard's extremely popular MMORPG, World of Warcraft, has hit over 4 million subscribed players worldwide, with over 1 million of those being in America alone! These figures make it the largest MMORPG in the world ever, eclipsing even the mighty Lineage which at it's height had 3 million subscribed players. The figures also include the recently limited half-million players in China who are restricted to 3 hour blocks of MMO games.
Blizzard President, Mike Morhaime had this to say, ""With the continued support of our retail partners, World of Warcraft has reached more than one million paying customers in North America well before its one-year anniversary in November. We would like to express our appreciation to both the players and our retail and license partners for helping us to make World of Warcraft one of the most popular online games in the world. "Blizzard plans to release the game in more territories such as Taiwan.
