This tutorial will guide you through the process of copying (or duplicating) a floppy disk.

  1. Insert the source diskette into the floppy drive.
  2. Click on the Start button on the taskbar, and then click on the My Computer icon.
  3. Right click on the 3-1/2 Floppy (A:) icon then select Copy Disk.

    Copy Disk dialogue box

  4. In the following window, click on Start to begin the disk copying process.

    Copy Disk dialogue box

  5. The computer will then begin to read the contents of your source diskette. Whilst the diskette is being read you should see a progress bar move from left to right. If you only have one floppy disk drive (which most PCs do) then you will be prompted when the bar reaches halfway to take out the source diskette, and put in the destination diskette. When you have done so click OK. If you have more than one floppy disk drive then your Copy Disk dialogue box will reflect the second drive.

Upon successful completion of the process you will be presented with a Copy Disk dialogue box which will let you know that the copy operation has completed.

  6. If you want to copy another disk follow the process again, if not then just click Close.
