Why do this ? Turning off Autorun stops the following from happening - When you insert a CD into your CD-ROM drive Windows automatically loads the program on the CD. For Audio CDs Windows opens your default music program and automatically plays the CD. This is how to disable that from happening.
Click Start / Settings / Control Panel then double click on System. (There are a couple of other ways to get to this window. 1) Right click My Computer and choose Properties 2) Hold down the Windows key and press Pause/Break).
Then click on the Device Manager tab.
Click on the '+' sign next to your CD-ROM to expand the CD-ROM listing. Then highlight your CD-ROM drive by left-clicking on your drive once. Then click on Properties.
Now click on the Settings tab.
Take the tick away from the Auto insert notification check box. Then click OK.

Alternatively, you can use TweakUI -
You can download from our downloads section. Installation instructions for Tweakui come with the download.
Open up Tweakui - Click Start / Settings / Control Panel. Then double click the Tweakui icon.
Then click on the Paranoia tab.
Then take the tick out of the following check boxes - Play audio CDs automatically & Play data CDs automatically.

Again you will need to reboot for the changes to take effect.
